First, there are those in which the verifying judgments, so to speak, the concrete judgments of fact that transform analytic propositions into analytic principles, are affirmed simply. That is the philosophic case. Secondly, there are those in which the concrete judgments of fact that effect the transformation are affirmed provisionally. That is what occurs in the empirical sciences. Finally, there is the third case for mathematics, and I speak of these as serially analytic principles.
